How to apply the law of attraction

Step-by-Step Guide: How to Apply the Law of Attraction

The Law of Attraction. You’ve probably heard of this weird concept before, from people who don’t hesitate to say their wildest dreams have come true, just by imagining them coming true in their minds. But few people know: How to apply the law of attraction. After reading this article, the Law of Attraction will no longer hold any secrets for you and you will be able to apply it in your daily life.

The Law of Attraction could therefore be summed up as the influence of our thoughts on our environment and our life more widely. Our desires are thus manifested in reality by the Law of Attraction.

Sounds too good to be true? That’s what I thought at the beginning, but I quickly understood that this Law could be very useful to me in my daily life. Will Smith, Jim Carrey, Arnold Schwarzenegger and many other celebrities are successfully practicing The Law of Attraction.

Concepts of the Law of Attraction

Think of the Law of Attraction as gravity. If you drop a room from your desk, it will inevitably fall to the floor. Same thing if you jump out of bed. You don’t need to test the phenomenon with every object you have on hand, you know that this rule will always apply.

Gravity is an immutable law of our universe. It applies everywhere and at all times. So understanding how the law of gravity works allows you to predict what will happen. Here, the Law of Attraction works the same way.

Things in our universe tend to migrate to other similar things. I use the word “things” here because this law also encompasses thoughts, feelings, people, objects, and everything that exists in our universe.

It is a universal principle, so it applies to all things. People are attracted to each other.

You’ve probably already heard the following: “He who resembles himself, assembles”, “You reap what you sow”, “As you make your bed, so you lie down.” These adages have gone through history and today the law of attraction allows us to understand why they were right.

How can you manifest what you want? The method is very simple. First of all, you have to decide what you really want. Then, you simply have to ask the universe.

Ask the universe? Absolutely. It doesn’t necessarily mean, open the window and literally ask the universe. Understand that you are part of this universe, and when you work hard, when you believe that what you are doing will pay off and you are open to outside help, then you will receive what you want.

Does that sound extraordinary to you? It is, however, what happens on the unconscious level, intuitions, presentiments, all this is part of a great collective unconscious. Unconscious that connects us all together, which explains why we find similar concepts in very distant cultures that have produced the notion of archetypes in psychology.

Of course, the why of this escapes us. Just as gravity is still a mystery to scientists. We don’t know the why, but we do know that it works. And that’s enough. Because it is enough for us to know that we can do it, in order to be able to do it.

If your thoughts are positive, then what you receive in return will be positive too. So, when you are positive and open to others, your thoughts influence not only those close to you (Pygmalion Effect) but also other people you have never met through this collective unconscious.

Your relationship to the universe

Beyond the Law of Attraction, it is important to examine how you feel when the universe interacts with you. Do you think you can influence your environment to get what you want? Or do you think that everything happens to you without you having control over it?

This psychological difference is called a locus of control. Each individual is either “locus-internal”, i.e. he or she will tend to attribute what happens to his or her own actions. Conversely, an individual-oriented “external locus” will tend to attribute to external events what has happened.

For example, an “internal” student who has a bad grade will think that he did not study well enough, while an “external,” student will think that his bad grade is due to chance, or to a teacher who got off on the wrong foot.

This difference is very important. Because when you think that you have a role to play and that your thoughts and emotions have an influence on your environment, then you will understand what is behind the Law of Attraction, and you will attract success into your life.

It’s not magic, it’s science.

At this point, you may not yet be convinced that this principle — that like attracts like — is a scientific principle. It may still seem fanciful and magical to you, and therefore unreal.

This may be because it involves intangible concepts such as thoughts and feelings. With gravity, an apple thrown in the air falls back to the ground. You may not understand what is happening, but you can see the immediate effects with your eyes.

It’s hard to imagine that thoughts and feelings can have an effect on the world around us. Fortunately, advances in technology and science allow us to see the effects of our thoughts visibly and immediately. Just like watching an apple fall to the ground, there are experiences that demonstrate the immediate effects of thoughts and feelings.

There are many scientific experiments that demonstrate that our thoughts alone have immediate and tangible effects on ourselves and the environment around us. We will briefly look at the results of some important studies on the subject.

For example:

1. The Effect of Meditation on the Crime Rate in Washington, D.C.

A group of 4,000 people volunteered to meditate on peace and love in order to reduce the crime rate in the Washington, DC, area. A team of scientists and researchers started the project without bias and replicated the experience under countless conditions.

The results were very clear: during the month of meditation, crime dropped by about 25%, definitively and scientifically proving that the positive thoughts of a group of people could affect and change the behavior of ill-intentioned individuals.

2. Thinking you’re younger makes you physically younger.

In 1979, a study was conducted among men aged 70 to 80 to find out if rethinking or reliving one’s youth could have an effect on aging.

The men were divided into two groups, one group talked and remembered their youth, while the other pretended to be young by surrounding themselves with period objects and activities.

At the end of the experiment (which lasted a week), both groups, but especially those who imagined themselves physically younger, showed signs of de-aging. Blood pressure was lowered, arthritis decreased, and even vision and hearing improved.

Simply by imagining ourselves younger, certain aging processes have been reversed. All of this is due to thinking alone.

3. Water Memory Experiments

The most famous experiment that proves the power of thought was carried out by Dr. Masaru Emoto. He photographed frozen water crystals after thoughts of love and peace or hate and fear were projected on them. Sometimes the intentions were expressed aloud, other times they were just thoughts.

The results were always the same. Messages of hope, peace, love, joy, and so on gave birth to beautiful symmetrical crystals, while messages of fear, hate, anger, sadness, and so on gave birth to disjointed and broken crystals. His experiences have shown that our intentions can physically alter the world around us.

You can replicate his experience on a smaller scale with the rice test.

How to use the Law of Attraction?

Whether you think that your unconscious thoughts influence your non-verbal behavior and language, and thus the perception that others have of you, and/or more broadly of a collective unconscious to which we are all linked, the Law of Attraction will be very useful to you.

People who use this law mainly seek to attract:

Money: Financial abundance is the main reason why people are interested in the Law of Attraction. It’s not surprising to be interested in it when we are in debt or when the money runs out, it’s our second need after all. The good news is that many people report having received job opportunities, unexpected payoffs or even finding money after working with the Law of Attraction.

Love and Relationships: Finding one’s significant other is an important concern for many. Fortunately, the Law of Attraction can help you too. By focusing on yourself and your desires, you will become a more attractive person and have a clearer vision of what you want for yourself in your life.

Improve your health: Few people use the Law of Attraction in this way, but as we have seen with the de-aging experience, it is a very good tool to improve your health. Because the Law of Attraction makes you aware that your thoughts are affecting your body, then you will be more attentive to send positive thoughts to your body, which is what the Coué Method has proven.

Spirituality: The Law of Attraction allows you to become aware that you are part of a whole greater than yourself. You will become aware that your words influence your environment. In the same way, your environment influences you too. In the end, we are all part of one big system.

Understand that the Law of Attraction is only limited by your imagination. So think about your life now and what you would like to achieve for yourself. Try to apply this law on small things to convince yourself of its existence. For example, imagine finding a good parking space, or hearing from a friend who hasn’t contacted you for a while.

Once you’ve confirmed that the Law of Attraction works for you, you can use it on something bigger. Here are 4 essential steps to successfully apply the Law of Attraction.

Step 1: Make a decision

Deciding what you want to achieve in your life is the most important step in the Law of Attraction. You must have a very clear vision of what you want. Whether it is something insignificant or something gigantic in your life, you must be clear about what you really want.

When you imagine this new “thing” appearing in your life, imagine it with your 5 senses. Take time to meditate as you imagine your life after you have acquired this “thing.” Whether it’s finding 10 euros on the ground or meeting your soul mate on the street, imagine it as accurately as possible.

Imagine what your encounter with this “thing” would be like, the smells, the sound, the taste and the touch if it is relevant.

How will you feel once this “thing” becomes part of your life?

Where will you feel it in your body?

Will your heart be pounding or will you feel a wave of calm?

Make this desire a reality in your mind. Don’t just imagine receiving this new thing, think of the change it will bring to your life. In your worldview.

This step is very important because it prepares your mind and body to receive what you ask for. This is because our brain makes no difference between reality and imagination. This way, you will be aligned with your desires.

Step 2: Practice Unconditional Love for Yourself

Simply put, if you don’t think you deserve what you want, then you won’t get it. These deep, unconscious fears and doubts will sabotage you. If a part of you feels that you don’t deserve what you want, then that part of you is competing with your desire.

Think of this as a radio signal. As you scan the frequencies, two stations compete with each other to get their signal. You’ve probably had this experience in your car before. The two stations are in competition, and occasionally you hear one song and then part of another song as well. You notice that neither station is perfectly clear and crisp, that there is some crackling.

It’s the same thing when you feel doubt or fear, these thoughts and feelings interrupt and compete with your desires. These doubts and fears are limiting beliefs that prevent you from accessing what you really want.

For example, you might think, if you are trying to find your match: “People are unfaithful in love. True love does not exist. In other words, you’re not getting off on the right foot to achieve your desire.

Of course, it is difficult to completely free yourself from doubt, fear and/or the feeling of not deserving something. Your first thought might be to fight these negative thoughts by telling yourself “don’t be afraid” or even “I deserve it”, but that doesn’t really work, because it reinforces these negative thoughts even more.

The only really effective way to combat these fears and doubts is to become aware of them and then confront them with love and compassion. These negative feelings have a deeply buried source. Something someone told you, or the result of something you did, made you feel unworthy of receiving good. It’s painful, so you try to avoid reliving it at all costs, hence the fear and doubt.

You can weaken these parasitic thoughts by approaching them with love and compassion, the same way you would feel towards a lonely and lost child or a wounded animal. This is the same method that is used in EFT. When you love yourself, you give yourself the opportunity to manifest your greatest desires, and you begin to desire only what is best for you.

Step 3: Open up to opportunities

It is important to dispel your fears and doubts. But that’s not all, it is also important to see how the Law of Attraction has acted in your life in the past. It is time to take a step back.

First of all, think about all the bad things that are happening in your life right now. Can you notice how they are related to your fears, doubts, and behaviors that have allowed these things to appear in your life?

Focus on your role in the process, rather than feeling guilt or shame. Acknowledging that your fears have appeared in your life does not mean that everything that happens to you is your fault. It simply means that the Law of Attraction has responded to the signal you sent. Once you recognize that the system works, you can use it for your own well-being rather than letting it serve you.

Now think about all the good things that have happened in your life. Again, can you notice how your hopes, dreams, and ambition have drawn these good things to you? Notice how your state of mind influences what happens to you and that when you believe that something is going to happen, it happens.

Again, rather than feeling pride or inflated ego, it’s about understanding that the Law of Attraction is already part of your life. It has always been there, but you haven’t known that until now. The Law of Attraction works constantly, even without you knowing it. Just as gravity works whether you believe it or not.

This step 3 is important because it allows you to make the connection between your current life and what led you to it. Of course, cataloging every little thing that has happened in your life and linking it to your thoughts and emotions at the time is impossible and useless. Instead, think about the state of mind that led you to your current situation.

Be grateful and enjoy the benefits of this law in your home. Make a list of all the things you’ve enjoyed having in your life so far, and give thanks to the universe. Expressing your gratitude is the key to allowing even better things to come into your life.

Step 4: Live the reality of your desires

Now it’s time to live the reality of your desires. You have imagined what you wanted, dispelled your doubts and fears and realized how the law has worked for you in the past. You practiced this type of imagination exercise in Step 1, but now it’s time to live that imagination.

It’s a bit of a theatrical exercise, so allow yourself to release your inhibitions to make this exercise really work. Rather than just visualizing reality in your mind, live it as much as possible. This may seem stupid or strange to you, but in a moment we will see why this is so important.

Here’s an example with something simple, let’s say finding a parking space. Get in your car and drive to that parking spot with the firm intention and hope of finding it. Announce it aloud: “This parking space is free for me. I will park in the space that is open to me.”Again, I’m fully aware that this may sound really stupid, but it’s a crucial step.

If you practice this technique on something bigger, it can be tricky, but use your imagination. For example, if you are trying to lose weight, then buy an outfit that fits the size you want. If you want a new car, go visit a dealer. Or if you’re aiming for something important like total financial freedom, start planning what you’re going to do with all that free time and money.

The important thing is to act as if you already have what you’re looking for. No more and no less.

This step is important for two reasons: The first is that it aligns you more strongly with your desires. We have seen that people like you attract each other, so if you act as if you already have what you want then you send a clear message to the universe that you are serious about what you want. Actions speak louder than words, don’t they?

The second is that it allows you to feel the satisfaction of having achieved what you desire. It solidifies your belief and reinforces the visualization you worked on in the first step. Let the joy and enthusiasm manifest itself in you!

Of course, there is still one more point to address: perseverance. This is the last piece of the Law of Attraction puzzle. There is no formula for knowing how long things will be able to manifest themselves in our lives. We each have our own obstacles to overcome, and it will take time to observe the results of this system.

Some people may see the things they want to see happen immediately, for others it may take a little longer. But the key here is patience and perseverance.

As soon as doubt or fear begins to re-emerge, go back to Step 2 and respond. If you have lost touch with your intention, go back to Step 1. If your belief in the Law of Attraction diminishes then go back to Step 3. And if all else fails, then repeat Step 4 every day until it becomes a reality!

Continue to express your gratitude and appreciation every day. Think positively and remember everything that has happened to you that has proven that your thoughts have manifested themselves through the Law of Attraction. Take time each day to review the visualization exercises to prepare your body and mind to receive this incredible gift.

As we have seen previously, but it is always good to repeat: the Law of Attraction is a universal law that will work with or without your permission. Simply becoming aware of it will allow you to choose what you want to attract to you, including the things you desire.

Of course, since it is sometimes difficult to have the right state of mind to send the right signals, here are some tools that will help you keep a clear vision of what you want to achieve in your life.

6 Tools to help you attract what you want

You can do any of these exercises, but try each one at least once. There are no hard and fast rules, so you are free to modify these exercises as you feel fit. These tools will help you overcome the challenges you may encounter when using the Law of Attraction.

1. The Visualization Chart

We have already talked about the visualization chart in a previous article. It is a very easy exercise to clarify what you want in your life. A visualization chart can be simply composed of inspiring images and words that speak to you and help you attract what you want.

The advantage of this tool is first of all to put words and pictures on your desires, it helps you to touch with your finger what interests you the most. This is even more useful if you have trouble imagining things. The other interest of the visualization board is also to remind you what you want. Every day, as you walk past this board it reminds you of what you want in your life.

2. Sensory visualization

Some people are fortunate enough to have a vivid imagination, which makes Step 1 really easy for them. For those who have difficulty perceiving their desires, this exercise is for you.

If you have difficulty visualizing, start small and work your way up from there. Close your eyes and imagine a fruit. For some reason, oranges are fairly easy to visualize, but if you hate oranges, you can choose something else.

For the purposes of this example, we will imagine an orange. Then do this:

  • Close your eyes and imagine the fruit in your mind. Picture it as clearly as possible. See its round and imperfect shape, its bright orange color, and its waxy, bumpy texture.
  • Imagine holding this orange. How does it feel in your hands? Imagine examining it, kneading it between your fingers. Feel its weight. Is it cold or at room temperature?
  • Feel this orange. Use your olfactory memory and try to remember the smell of an orange. Can you smell that familiar smell? Take a deep breath and make the smell more present.
  • Gently tap the orange on a flat surface. What does it sound like? Flick it away. Can you hear it?
  • Peel the orange. Hear the sound it makes when the peel pulls away from the orange. See the white crust on the back of the peel. Notice the shiny, moist pulp beginning to emerge. Smell the sweet smell of citrus as it intensifies.
  • Take a bite. Feel the texture of the orange in your mouth. The juice and cold pulp on your tongue. Taste that sweet, pleasant taste.

You can replicate this exercise with anything. Once you’ve mastered it, Step 1 of the Law of Attraction becomes easier. Improve your visualization by recording your voice and then listening to it again with your eyes closed, focusing on this technique.

3. The gratitude booklet

We saw the importance of gratitude in Step 3, but we will go a little further. Gratitude prepares you for success because it puts you in the right mindset to receive.

Expect that the universe is more likely to give you things if you are already grateful for what it has provided. If you give someone a birthday gift and you barely receive a thank you, you will probably avoid giving a second gift. But on the other hand, you’d love to give a new gift to someone who was excited when they received your gift. The same goes for the universe.

Make a gratitude list to help you find and express your gratitude. Here are two ways to do this:

  • Write down in a notebook a huge list of all the things you are thankful for. Add to this list all the things that come to mind.
  • Write down in your notebook every night (or every morning) all the things you enjoyed during the day (or the day before).

Imagine waking up in the morning and reading everything that has been beneficial in your life up to now. It would certainly put you in a better mood and change your perception of things, allowing you to focus on what is going well in your life. People are attracted to each other.

4. Mindfulness

Mindfulness is a practice of self-awareness without judgment. When you are conscious, you are not only aware of what you feel or think, you observe it without analyzing it. For example:

  • Mindfulness is not: “My hands are shaking because I am afraid of this meeting. I shouldn’t be afraid. There is nothing to be afraid of.”
  • On the contrary, mindfulness is: “I am afraid of what others will think of me in this meeting. I am afraid of embarrassing myself. My hands are shaking because of that fear.”

It is important to understand that mindfulness is not about changing anything, or trying to understand it. It’s because our analytical and self-critical side — our automatic reactions — are unhealthy and actually perpetuates the problem. It strengthens the connection in our brain between the action and the negative feelings. To release this connection, approach it in a non-judgmental way. Let go.

There is a lot of scientific research supporting the effects of mindfulness, but it is well beyond the scope of this guide. What you need to know is that mindfulness has been proven to relieve anxiety and depression and has an incredibly beneficial effect on blood pressure, the immune system, heart rate and even cancer. You can explore this in more detail in the article on the benefits of meditation.

Mindfulness is an important part of the Law of Attraction because you have to be aware of yourself without judging yourself to get what you want.

To become truly aware of what you want, also understand your fears and the signals these fears send to the universe. To change them, approach those fears and signals with love and compassion. The next exercise is helpful in this regard.

5. Develop your intentions.

Most of us live our daily lives without any intention. We get up, get ready for the day and go about our daily routine without really thinking about our actions. Too often, our thoughts and feelings distract us, and we are distracted from the action we are doing.

To make the best use of the Law of Attraction, formulate your intentions in your thoughts, feelings, and actions. Intention focuses your brain’s activity to mobilize all available resources and helps you perform the given action. This type of disciplined focus will help you get faster and more accurate results when you use Law of Attraction.

To train your intentions, simply focus on daily activity and fix your intention on each action you perform in that task. At first, this will seem extremely painful, but keep practicing and notice how your focus immediately returns to the present moment.

For example, if you are washing dishes tonight. Before taking action, express your intention aloud (or in your head if you have company). Say:

  1. “I’m going to clean this dish,”
  2. “I’ll take this plate.”
  3. “I turn on the hot water.”
  4. “I put soap on the sponge.”

Do not take any action until you announce your intention to do so. Again, it seems tedious at first, but soon you will notice something incredible: The simple act of washing dishes is actually a series of actions, movements and thoughts.

So when your intention is exclusively focused on the action, you will understand exactly how important each act is.

Usually, we do all these actions automatically, but in hindsight, we look at all the decisions and actions that make up our busy day, when we do it with intention. This allows us to regain control of our lives, and to be aligned with our deepest desires at all times.

6. Free your body

Your body needs to move in order to be healthy, you keep hearing this in all the media. But have you found what you like? A physical activity that attracts you, not to lose weight or build muscles, but simply to get a change of scenery and clear your mind.

For people who are always full of ideas and thoughts, it can help to free themselves from that “too full” mind. At the same time, your body and mind are intrinsically linked, if one is not at its best, it will be felt on the other. This is why it is so important to exercise, to get moving, especially in our sedentary societies.

It may seem like a waste of time, yet it is important for your well-being. You will see the difference after trying an activity that you enjoy, at the same time you will be in the right state of mind to successfully apply the law of attraction.

Misconceptions about the Law of Attraction

N°1: “Can I get everything I want with the Law of Attraction?”

The Law of Attraction is only one of the laws that govern our universe. There are others, such as gravity for example. You can’t defy the other laws of the universe, so don’t expect anything too extravagant. So no, not everything is possible.

You are also in competition with other people’s intentions; both good and bad. So be aware that if your desire comes into direct conflict with a more powerful desire of another person, then the universe will respond accordingly.

The Law of Attraction does not give you total control over your life, it simply states that fellow human beings will attract each other. And you can use this to your advantage by making your desires come true, but this is not magic.

No. 2: “I tried to be rich with the Law of Attraction, but I ended up losing money. What happened?”

I can’t say what happened, but it’s more than likely that you have fears and especially limiting beliefs that you haven’t resolved. Desiring only wealth is not enough to manifest money in your life. Already make sure that your fears and doubts are not more powerful than your desires.

If you think inwardly that “The rich are all bastards, it’s hard to make enough money, money is dirty…” then it will effectively push back your desires which will be self-sabotaging by such thoughts. So take the time to evaluate whether you don’t have this kind of vision in mind before you formulate the wish to become rich.

Also, be patient with each step of the Law of Attraction, persevering with your intentions. After all, using the Law of Attraction requires continuous practice, with which you will need to be patient and improve the strength of your intention. It is not a process to be tried only once.

No. 3: “Does the Law of Attraction mean that everything bad that happens to me is my fault?”

We often take the shortcut of blaming ourselves for negative situations that happen to us. This is because we are searching for a cause for everything. At the same time, it also reaffirms our fears, doubts and insecurities. The Law of Attraction does not mean that you are solely responsible for every little thing that happens to you. It simply means that fellow human beings attract each other.

You are more likely to attract negative situations if fear, doubt and your false beliefs lead you to believe that bad thing will happen to you. But this does not mean that bad things are happening to you because of you. It just means that bad things are happening and your negative feelings act like a magnet or compass that guides them to you.

Of course, it would be simplistic to imagine that every bad thing in the world happens because a person didn’t have a positive thought or intention. Wars, genocides and famines do not happen simply because a person did not have enough positive intentions.

Bad things will always happen, we have to deal with them. Often, we learn from them. So think of these things as hidden teachings that ultimately make us stronger.

So, have you ever used the Law of Attraction to achieve something in your life? If so, share your experiences with us in the comments.
